Sufi nights have existed for years but Vadodara witnessed its first ever Mehfil, called Sukoon E Swar on the 19th June.A cosy setting, very sufi vibes & music that keeps people talking for days!
Some events entertain you.
Others stay with you long after the lights go out.
At ORIGO, we've always believed that live music has the power to do much more than fill a room—it can bring people together, tell stories & create moments that people carry with them for years. That belief is what led us to create Sukoon E Swar, a live music experience unlike anything Vadodara had witnessed before.
While the city has embraced concerts across many genres over the years, there had never been a dedicated Sufi and Bollywood live music evening that celebrated the spiritual depth & timeless beauty of Sufi music in such an intimate setting. With Sukoon E Swar, we wanted to introduce the people of Vadodara to a genre that has touched hearts for centuries, while presenting it in a way that felt personal, immersive & emotionally unforgettable.
What Is Sufi Music?
To truly appreciate Sukoon E Swar, it's important to understand where Sufi music comes from.
Rooted in the mystical traditions of Sufism, Sufi music originated centuries ago as a form of spiritual expression. Sufi saints & poets believed that music had the power to transcend words & bring people closer to the divine. Through poetry, rhythm, & melody, they expressed themes of love, devotion, longing, surrender, & inner peace.
Over time, Sufi music evolved beyond religious gatherings & found its place on concert stages, in films, & across cultures around the world. Today, it beautifully blends traditional compositions with contemporary arrangements, making it accessible to audiences of every generation while preserving the emotion that lies at its heart.
That balance between tradition & modernity is exactly what inspired Sukoon E Swar.
A Night Designed to Be Felt, Not Just Heard
When we began planning Sukoon E Swar, we weren't looking to organise just another live music event.
We wanted to create an experience.
Every detail—from the venue & ambience to the lighting, storytelling, & carefully curated setlist—was designed to encourage people to slow down & simply listen. In a world filled with constant noise & endless distractions, Sukoon E Swar offered something increasingly rare: the opportunity to be fully present.
It became an intimate live concert where every song invited reflection, every melody sparked emotion, & every silence between performances carried just as much meaning as the music itself.
For many in the audience, it wasn't simply an evening of entertainment.
It was an experience of healing through music.
The Voice Behind Sukoon E Swar: Swarit Kelkar
A musical experience like this needed an artist who could honour the depth of Sufi music while creating a genuine emotional connection with the audience.
That artist was Swarit Kelkar.
A Gold Medalist in Vocal Music, Swarit combines exceptional technical skill with remarkable emotional expression. His strong foundation in Indian classical music allows him to move effortlessly between Sufi, Bollywood, semi-classical & folk traditions, making every performance both authentic & deeply moving.
His musical journey reflects years of dedication & excellence. He is a Gold Medalist in his Master's Degree in Vocal Music, a recipient of the prestigious Scholarship to Young Artists awarded by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India & the winner of Radio City Super Singer as well as the First Runner-Up at Radio Mirchi Tansen.
Swarit has also been a former member of Kailash Kher's celebrated band, Kailasa, performing alongside one of India's most respected voices in Sufi music. Over the years, he has performed across India and internationally, earning recognition for concerts that combine technical brilliance with heartfelt storytelling.
Watching him perform at Sukoon E Swar reminded us that the finest singers don't simply sing songs—they invite audiences to feel every word.
A New Chapter for Live Music in Vadodara
One of the most rewarding moments of the evening wasn't just hearing the applause.
It was listening to people share how different the experience felt.
Many audience members told us they had never attended a dedicated Sufi concert before. Some discovered songs they had only heard in passing, while others experienced the emotional depth of the genre for the very first time.
That was exactly our vision.
We wanted to create a space where music wasn't limited by language or familiarity, where both lifelong lovers of Sufi music and first-time listeners could sit together & experience the same emotions.
Seeing those moments unfold reminded us why live music in Vadodara has such incredible potential. Audiences today are looking for meaningful experiences & we're proud that Sukoon E Swar became one of the cultural events in Gujarat that brought something refreshingly different to the city's live entertainment landscape.
More Than a Concert
At ORIGO, we don't measure success only by sold-out seats or applause.
We measure it by the memories people take home.
Sukoon E Swar was created to offer a pause from everyday life—a chance to disconnect from busy schedules and reconnect with music, emotion, and community. It became a soulful musical evening where strangers sang together, emotions were shared without words & music became a bridge between people.
That is the kind of acoustic concert experience we hope to continue creating.
This Is Just the Beginning
The overwhelming response to Sukoon E Swar reaffirmed everything we believe about the power of thoughtfully curated live experiences. Seeing the audience connect so deeply with the music, the stories, and the atmosphere made the evening an overwhelming success and encouraged us to dream even bigger.
At ORIGO, Sukoon E Swar was never meant to be a one-time event. It marks the beginning of a larger journey to bring unique, thoughtfully curated live experiences to our city & beyond. We remain committed to creating concerts that celebrate extraordinary artists, introduce audiences to meaningful musical traditions & continue building a richer cultural landscape through live entertainment.
If Sukoon E Swar taught us one thing, it's that when music is presented with honesty, intention & heart, it doesn't just entertain—it stays with people.
And we're only getting started!
